Band Update – July 10, 2020
![]() |
Message from Renee Shane-Boyd (cfhsbandboosters@gmail.com) Dear Falcon Band Families, I know that you have been waiting to receive information on the impact of the pandemic on band activities. We have determined that in the interest of safety, we will not be holding a band camp this summer. All band camp fees paid to date will be refunded by the district. You do not need to do anything at this time to receive your refund. Please allow three – five weeks for receipt. Please note – A portion of the band camp fee covers food and staffing for band camp two and three as well as section and season t-shirts. Depending on the activities we are ultimately able to do, there may be a fee assessment of no more than $150 in late August in addition to normal band fees with financial assistance available. Additionally, please reserve all band dates on your calendar after August 17 and retain all summer packet forms you received. We will provide clarification as we have it. The district band teachers have been working over the summer to determine strategies to continue to offer a high level of music instruction as well as the musical experience that families have come to value at all grade levels of the band program. We have been monitoring research and guidelines from across the country to determine the safest and most effective ways to offer instruction that will help us maintain the skills and culture of the CFSD band program for the future. After the district releases information regarding instruction on July 13, I will be meeting with student leaders to determine our path forward based on the “parameters” and dates we are given. As you know, these parameters change often, but our work in the arts makes us creative and flexible, and we will find a way to successfully navigate this uncertain time. Seniors 2020 – We know this email does not apply to you, but some videos will be out soon for you, so please wait until the end of this month to unsubscribe if you are interested in seeing the senior video. I sincerely miss you and look forward to working with you all again. Renee Shane-Boyd If you have any questions in the meantime, please let us know. (cfhsbandboosters@gmail.com).
