About the Band

Renee Shane-Boyd received her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. She has been director of bands in the Catalina Foothills School District in Tucson for 30 years where she has taught elementary, middle school, and high school concert band, jazz band, and marching band in addition to numerous small ensembles. She is currently Director of Bands at Catalina Foothills High School. Ms. Shane-Boyd has conducted the Southern Arizona Band and Orchestra Directors Honor Band and the Arizona Elementary All-State Band. She is a member of AMEA and AAJE, and she currently serves as the AMEA vice president of high school activities. She has served as band chair for the Southeast region, and she has served as secretary and treasurer for ABODA as well as secretary for AAJE. She received the O.M. Hartsell Excellence in Teaching Music Award in 1999 and the CFSD Foundation's Teacher of the Year Award in 2009.
Mr. Ramon Sepulveda received a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Arizona. He is currently Assistant Band Director at Catalina Foothills High School in Tucson where he assists with the teaching of the Foothill's concert bands, Jazz ensembles, and Marching band. He also teaches fifth grade beginning band at Manzanita Elementary, and Sunrise Drive Elementary. In the fall of 2008 Mr. Sepulveda received a Star Award from the Catalina Foothills School Board for his participation with the band's visit to China. Mr. Sepulveda is a member of the Arizona Symphonic Winds where he performs regularly on trombone.
Dr. Tina Walton received a Bachelor of Music degree from West Texas State University, a Masters of Music from Florida State University, and her DMA from the University of Arizona. She is currently Assistant Band Director at Catalina Foothills High School in Tucson where she teaches steel drums, percussion ensembles and marching drumline. Dr. Walton performs regularly in the Tucson city area the with "Steel del Sol" (a steel drum quartet), Tucson Symphony Orchestra, and various other groups and musical productions on a variety of orchestral, popular, and world music percussion.
